What Youth Do in Afterschool Programs

Afterschool programs are structured in collaboration with schools to ensure that Camp Fire programs support each youth’s education.

For many schools, a daily program is structured like this:

First 60 min

Homework Mentoring and Tutoring

Second 60 min

Conflict Resolution, Cyberbullying, Digital Literacy, and Community Action Programs

Outdoor and Environmental Education, and Health and Wellness Programs

Continued Mentoring and Tutoring

Third 30-45 min

Preparation for Parent Pick-up or Class

Youth are encouraged to manage their time in a way that aligns with their passions and unique talents. And, our trained adult staff gathers youth input to tailor curricula to meet the needs and nurture the sparks of the youth in the program.

Camp Fire Wise Kids®

Camp Fire’s Wise Kids® and Wise Kids Outdoors® health and wellness programs uses the simple theory of “energy in = energy out” to teach children about eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle.

InterACTION

Communication with peer groups and adults is crucial to thriving and success for youth today. Camp Fire’s InterACTION focuses on healthy communication skills and helping youth learn simple conflict resolution approaches.
