Continued Investment by Major Funders

Both S. D. Bechtel Jr., Foundation and New York Life Foundation, after taking a look at the strides Camp Fire has made and continues to make through the Thrive{ology} framework, have committed substantial funds to further Camp Fire’s impact.

The S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation has committed a one-year investment of $597,000 supporting two key priorities. First, it will improve and expand Camp Fire’s online training system, which is at the heart of how Camp Fire delivers training and continuous learning to national headquarters and council staff, volunteers, and board members. Second, the investment will support the research, evaluation, and design of Camp Fire’s five-year strategy and business plan through the engagement of La Piana Consulting, a nationally recognized consulting firm with expertise in nonprofit strategic and business planning as well as its thought leadership within and outside the sector. Project management support will also be funded as a component of this grant.

The Bechtel funding, combined with a recent grant of $1.25 million over three years by New York Life Foundation, brings Camp Fire’s recent major grant support totals to more than $1.8 million.

“Camp Fire is honored to have these prominent foundations place such trust in Camp Fire’s Promise to youth,” says Cathy Tisdale, President and CEO of Camp Fire. “We live our Promise to youth daily, and our results show the difference Camp Fire makes in the lives of youth everywhere as a result. The resources provided by the New York Life and S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundations will strengthen Camp Fire’s capacity to fully realize our vision for the kids and families we serve.”
