ELE was designed for all newly appointed council executives within the past two years. Camp Fire has 52 councils nationwide; this foundational mini-conference was designed to ensure that new leadership knows all they need to know about the organization, has the opportunity for experiential learning and collaboration with other Camp Fire leaders, participates in interactive breakout sessions, and provides tools for future sustainability and effectiveness. Participants will build an understanding on how best to use Camp Fire’s internal resources, data, and key results for their business planning, as well as build relationships with other Camp Fire Executive Directors/CEOs and National Headquarters staff.
The National Leadership Conference (NLC) is held in odd-numbered years, usually in late October or early Novem
ber. The conference is a meeting of all council representatives located in various locations around the country. Council presidents, board members, executives, and senior program leadership are invited to hear special keynote speakers and participate in a variety of training and recognition opportunities. This system-wide conference often presents direction-setting opportunities for the future of the organization.
Congress, Camp Fire’s biennial business meeting of the corporation, is held in conjunction with NLC. Each council sends voting delegates to Congress based on a formula related to the size of its membership. Congress votes on changes in bylaws, elects officers, and may adopt resolutions to be considered by the national board of trustees.
By participating in YLE, young people are empowered to build their leadership capacity so that they may better their councils, schools, families, and communities.
Additional sessions for YLE are planned in conjunction with our National Youth Advisory Cabinet.
Each council must register the youth attending the conference. A travel chaperone will be required. If your council is planning to attend NLC, those participants may be the travel chaperone for youth attending YLE.
Please have all youth attendees complete the following forms and return the to Julia Fleenor Bejarano at julia.fleenor@campfire.org:

Promise to Practice (P2P) is Camp Fire’s annual program focused convening that offers in-person training opportunities for council program staff, interns, and volunteers. P2P promotes collective peer-to-peer interaction and encourages sharing and learning among all workshop participants. The theoretical model of “promise to practice” provides council program staff with professional development/training opportunities focused on orientation to core requirements, such as Thrive{ology}, sessions that prepare staff to lead newly revised or developed curricula, enhance targeted skill and knowledge areas, and topics identified by council participants as areas of greatest need and interest. The “Promise to Practice Roadshow” format is used in even-numbered years, with the traditional format used in odd-numbered years, often held back-to-back with the National Leadership Conference. The “Roadshow” format is held at various council locations where attendees will have the opportunity to observe Camp Fire programs and features more intensive training on high-priority topics presented by nationally recognized experts.
